When you think of a brand, you think products you use every day. But did you know that you are also a brand? A brand is anything that identifies a product or service. TV and newspaper ads are a place where companies brand themselves. We as business owners also do the same thing when we market ourselves. This was our task in day 4 of the 30 day challenge. In this post, I will discuss what it entails and why it is so important.
There are several elements involved in a brand, the most important one, being your business name. Logos, taglines and graphic elements are additional pieces that are involved in creating your brand. When you market yourself to others, you need to make sure that at least some of these elements are included and that they are consistent.
For example, cycling is part of my identity, so by including images of cycling, it makes people know who I am and aware that cycling is part of my brand.
The most important part of your brand , however, is your photo. Adding a photo, which should be professionally done, puts the human touch on your brand. You will need to spend money, but it can pay off in the long run ( In addition, it is a great networking tool)
It should be on all of your social media profiles as well as your website, keeping in mind you will need to edit it if needed so as to meet the guidelines for image sizes for each site, as well as keeping it consistent throughout.
Having a professionally done headshot and incorporating all the required design elements can help you to establish your brand.
The next several posts will talk about places where you can establish yourself, beginning with your website.
